My group members Shawn and Connor went out on 11/2/19 and scouted locations. They went to the STC parking lot, this location was a very wide open spot, however it was too public of a place being on a main road and ultimately we decided it wouldn't work well for our film. Ufer Park, this spot didn't have enough space to film, although it was more private of a spot, we voted against filming here. Colonial Oaks, this spot was perfect, there was a good amount of space to film without being too open, it also wasn't too busy of a spot. Red-Bug Slough back entrance, this spot was probably our second favorite, we really liked the privacy of the spot, we could film here very easily, however we liked colonial oaks more.

Premise of Film: Giovane is a young man looking to get into the candy selling business, something that is illegal in this movie. The movie follows him as he transforms from a anxious young man who tends to get pushed around, to a professional, emotionless, old man, due to years of selling candy and learning from his mistakes. He meets his rival in the beginning of the film and by the end has become what he first apposes.

In the first two minutes of Shutter Island, the film starts off with the credits leading into the title of the movie. The film then transitions to a black screen, then establishes the time and date of the film. This screen then fades to a wide shot view of the ocean with a boat in the distance. A crane is lowered when transitioning to this scene. The scene then cuts to the main character Teddy throwing up in the bathroom. After relieving himself, he says " pull yourself together teddy, pull yourself together." A mid-shot view shows him talking to himself and adjusting his suit. A close-up of Teddy is then showed where fear grows onto his face and he says " its just water. " Teddy then walks out of the bathroom with a crane being used. It then cuts to an eye-line match of Teddy looking at his partner and ends with a two-shot of the Teddy and partner at the bow. The cost to produce this film was 65 million. In the first two minutes of Prison Break, the main character Michael is viewed from an over the shoulder shot of him getting a full tattoo over the top half of his body. The scene starts off with a black screen that fades into a two-shot of the tattoo artist and Michael. A hand-held shot was used with incidental music playing in the background adding a sense of questioning to the scene. There is a brief dialogue where Michael's last words are " I don't have a few years, wish the hell I did" , establishing that something big is going on in his life. The scene is cut to a wide shot view on a crane of the city, establishing the place and time of when he left the tattoo shop. It is then cut to the inside of his apartment with an insert shot of origami which is then focused back to Michael walking at a fast pace to the other side of the room. \ In the first two minutes of season one of American Horror Story, a set of twin boys invade an abandoned home that is considered to be cursed. The scene starts with a black screen that then establishes the time of the scene and fades into a view of the trees from an upward view with the use of a crane. The scene then cuts to a view of a little girl view a house from the lawn. It then cuts to an insert shot of bones hanging off a tree. It then cuts to a wide shot of the house, still in use of a crane. These cuts establishing the location of the home and allows the audience to think about what could possibly be wrong with it. The scene then cuts to a view of a set of twins walking towards the house, planning to vandalize it. The little girl sees this and tells them that it isn't a good idea to go into the house. After warning them and realizing their carelessness, she says, " you're gonna regret it" and continues to repeat as the boys walk into the home. The next sce...

In the first two minutes of Stranger Things, the audience is shown outside of a laboratory. A fade in from a black screen to the night sky, with the use of a crane to move in a downward direction to view the laboratory, was used to create a sense of suspense and wonder. The show then cuts to the inside of the laboratory with a hand-held being used to zoom and navigate through the hallways and then BAM. The scientist starts running through the halls, with incidental music playing, insinuating that there is a danger. Cut after cut, the scientist continues to run through the halls until he gets to the elevator. Shot/reverse shot is used to show the scientist and his view of the end of the hallway. His fear of what's to come creates an uneasy mood and then finally the elevator opens. As he waits for the elevator to close, he notices that he's not the only one there. An overhead shot was used to show the scientist's last seconds of life before the mystery creature kills him. Th...

In the first two minutes of the first episode of Law & Order: SVU, Payback,  the audience is immediately brought to a crime scene where Detectives Stabler and Benson are investigating a murder. Emergency services are on scene to inspect the body just to find the victim with missing body parts. In the beginning of the show, the screen fades out of black to a view of the city of New York at night. A sound bridge consisted of car horns and construction work going on in the background was used to show that the city was busy at the time of the crime. An establishing shot of the crime scene is shown with police and other emergencies on scene. To capture a closer look, a crane was used to gradually get a mid-shot view. The crane continues to be used until the detectives get near the vehicle where an eye line match meets with Detective Stabler and the victim. The moving pictures and different characters and scenes make producing a film sound fun and exciting, which makes me more interested in doing so. Over the past 3 months, I've gotten the chance to cut and edit an interview for a video to present on a board of donors for the Lee Wetherington Boys and Girls Club. Prior to this, a film and production class was offered and allowed me to grasp an idea of how I wanted my interview to look. Print journalism has many different aspects that seem very interesting and enjoyable. The way different magazine and news companies structure their papers and illustrate the stories produced are engrossing and establishes an organized and consistent flow of content for the reader. The idea of adding pictures and a variety of colors to a print makes the magazine more appealing and allows for the reader to grasp an idea of why the magazine was structured a certain way. I focus more on the artsy and eye-catching aspects of everything so I feel that puts in me in a good position in creating a magazine.
